Jennifer Roten

Stylist ~ 425.677.5814

I was born in Miami Florida, then my family moved to Topeka Kansas where I was raised. We then moved to Issaquah where I attended Skyline High School. Since I was a little girl in Kansas I knew I wanted to be a hairstylist after I had my first haircut. I was infatuated with the industry. Shortly after I graduated from Skyline in Issaquah I went straight to Beauty College and studied at The Gene Juarez Academy. I received my cosmetology license in 2005 and then completed my Vidal Sassoon Apprenticeship at Seven Salon in Downtown Seattle and then was a stylist at the Bellevue location from 2006-2009. After mastering women‘s design and color I yearned to learn more about Men’s cutting and styling. I then started training at Weldon Barber where I had one on one Training with Kurt Kueffner who was the VP Director for American Crew then became the Executive Director for Aveda. Also during this time I taught a class on male cutting at the Gary Manuel Institute in Downtown Seattle. I was so infatuated with the male part of the industry and became the Regional Manager at Weldon Barber. After I mastered all parts of the industry I was ready to come home to Issaquah, the city I love and wanted to give my expertise to my clients in this area. I found my home here at 5th Ave Salon and I genuinely care about every client and focus on the details. If it is your first time with me or your 10th year with me you will get exactly the same service and devotion to your hair care. I cherish my relationships and guarantee you to be satisfied with your service.

Kara Maria

Stylist ~ 425.652.2752

Stylist ~ 253.677.3910

Jamie graduated from beauty school at the Gene Juarez Academy in early 2000. Hair has been a great passion of hers. She is one of many people who can say she understands a lot about curly hair. She was first introduced to the Ouidad technique and brand in 2013. She traveled to Florida to get her certification to be an "Ouidad Specialist" in haircutting and educating her clients on the Ouidad products.
The Ouidad signature haircutting method is called, "carve and slice"; a technique used for cutting curly hair. It’s a unique method and works best on anyone who has challenges with hair bulk or heaviness with curls. It’s about removing tiny little pieces of hair in the curve of the curls to remove the weight. It creates an almost jigsaw-like puzzle within the curls and cut pieces together to form a more uniformed curl. Instead of your curls laying on top of each other, the curls lay into each other. She understands the struggles of curly hair because she herself has curly hair and can easily relate to her clients. It was very important to her to be able to relate her own curly hair experiences and to give that back in education to
her clients.
She also loves coloring, highlighting or doing a balayage on clients. She works on both men’s or women’s hair and can cut on all hair types. Coloring hair is one of her favorite tasks, to add onto the many services she can provide. She also is certified in Brazilian Blowouts, and it’s a great treatment for any hair type to help control frizz, to have smoothness and shine back in their hair. Her goal is to make her clients’ hair look amazing and bring out the best in how they can look. She believes in educating clients on products and up-keep so they can maintain their look at home.
